Making Decisions Alliance

The Mental Health Foundation is a member of the Making Decisions Alliance (MDA), a consortium of nearly 40 national and regional organisations and groups, which was formed in 2002 to campaign for new legislation on mental capacity for England and Wales.

 

The ability to make decisions for ourselves was inadequate and affected so many people.

 

The Making Decisions Alliance has successfully campaigned for new legislation and was influential in shaping the Mental Capacity Act 2005. Passed by Parliament in April 2005, it is due to come into effect in April 2007.
