A New Vision for Mental Health

New Vision cover

2009 will be a significant year for mental health policy in England.

The government's ten-year plan - the National Service Framework (NSF) for Mental Health - will come to an end in 2009, signalling a new era.

Important policy choices must be made to ensure both that its achievements are built upon and its shortcomings tackled.

Seven national mental health organisations have put together a new vision for mental health discussion paper. This paper intends to provoke a debate on the best direction for future mental health policy.

Find out more about the Future Vision Coalition at the New Vision for Mental Health website.

Read the discussion paper below and tell us what you think by responding to the following questions:

  • Is this a vision you share? Why or why not?
  • What needs to be done nationally and locally to achieve the 4 aspects of the vision?
  • What do you think are the top 3 priorities for the next 10 years of mental health policy?

Please send us your responses by email to future.vision@nhsconfed.org by Friday 3 October 2008.
