News Release, 10 September 2001
On Thursday 20 September, the Mental Health Foundation will launch its three new websites at a seminar at its offices in London. The websites aim to be the most comprehensive and accessible source of information on mental health and learning disabilities in the United Kingdom.
The Mental Health Foundation site at www.mentalhealth.org.uk provides a wide range of information about mental health, including specific mental health problems, approaches to care, and where to get help and support. The Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities site at www.learningdisabilities.org.uk provides a wide range of information about learning disabilities, including causes and syndromes, rights, and where to get help. Both sites have extensive links to other sites, as well as bulletin boards and galleries where visitors can post their own messages or display artwork and poetry.
'Connects', the mental health and learning disabilities portal at www.connects.org.uk provides a wealth of information on mental health and learning disabilities. It has over 1600 links to other websites, as well as more than five hundred different news items and events. Visitors to 'Connects' can tailor the information to suit their individual needs and will be alerted to relevant new additions to the site on each return visit.
The three connecting sites have been designed for anyone with an interest in mental health or learning disabilities - including people with personal experience of mental health problems, carers, professionals and researchers. The website development was funded by the Shirley Foundation and designed by RMR plc.
