Celebrity Carol Concert in aid of the Mental Health Foundation

News Release, 21 August 2001

The Mental Health Foundation's celebrity carol concert "The Celebration of Christmas" takes place in the presence of HRH Princess Alexandra the Hon Lady Ogilvy, patron of the Foundation on Thursday 13 December at 7.15pm at London's historic Guildhall, Aldermanbury.

The evening follows the story of Christmas, with readings performed by celebrity supporters, including Susan George, Esther Rantzen, Tony Britton, Julian Glover and Jane Lapotaire. Della Jones, the celebrated mezzo-soprano is this year's soloist, supported by the London Chorus, conducted by Ronald Corp. The concert is followed by a black tie dinner and auction - an ideal opportunity to provide friends, work associates or business partners with a memorable night out.

The Mental Health Foundation's carol concert has become a hugely popular occasion and is one of the main fundraising events for the charity. This year's fundraising target is £50,000 that will support the Foundation in pioneering new approaches to treatment and support for people with mental health problems and those with learning disabilities.
