New appointments in Strategies for Living at the Mental Health Foundation

News Release, 23 September 2002

The Mental Health Foundation today announced the appointment of Carole Lovett to the new post of Project Development worker for its Good Practices in User Centred Initiatives project. Carole, due to take up the post on 1 October, has to date been working in user development in Manchester.

The Section 64-funded post is designed to develop criteria for good practice in user-centred initiatives, with a directory using examples from around England. The Foundation wants to hear from individuals or organisations who feel they have examples to contribute.

This is the first appointment made by the Foundation's new Head of Strategies for Living, Toby Williamson. Toby joined the Foundation during the Summer after 13 years in mental health work. His previous posts have included Team Co-ordinator of IMPACT, Hammersmith and Fulham Mind's Assertive Outreach Service. In the last year he has worked on secondment for the Sainsbury

Centre for Mental Health as a Practice Development and Training Officer.

Says Toby: "As the new Head I hope to build on the immense success that Strategies for Living has achieved. The project has made a reality of the potential that survivors have as researchers as well as 'experts by experience.' This is work we will continue to support, and use to influence policy, planning and practice at a national level. The appointment to our new User Centred Initiatives project is an excellent example of our commitment to this."
