Esther Rantzen launches new Well-Being rose for Charity

News Release, 6 May 2003

Esther Rantzen will launch the newly developed rose Well-Being (Harjangle) for the Mental Health Foundation at the Chelsea Flower Show on the 19th May at this year.

Sales from the rose, which was produced by Harkness Roses over six years and named by the Mental Health Foundation, will benefit the Foundation and help it to raise awareness and continue its work to help people survive, recover from and prevent mental health problems.

Dr Andrew McCulloch, Chief Executive of the Mental Health Foundation, said: "We are delighted that Esther Rantzen and Harkness Roses have given their time and energy to help raise awareness of mental health. As one in four people are affected by poor mental health every year in the UK, it is essential that the Foundation's work continues. The launch of the rose Well-Being will help to ensure this."

"Well-Being will help to raise funds for the benefit of mental health in the UK as well as giving pleasure to many of those who garden - a pastime that can help improve mental wellbeing."

Well-Being is a yellow and highly fragrant rose with double open-cupped blooms. The plant is a broad and open-branched shrub suitable for mixed borders, beds and hedges. It can also be cut for indoor decoration.
