News Release, 14 December 2005
In Christmas cards posted to 20,000 donors, the Mental Health Foundation is asking people to share their experiences of how they cope with stress and mental illness. The charity uses research to develop their understanding of how people can live with and recover from mental health problems.
Andrew Moffatt, Director of Fundraising at the Mental Health Foundation said:
“We want people to share their experiences of mental illness with us – it really does influence what we do here and the research projects we carry out. Mental illness affects 25 per cent of the population, and their families and friends. Many of our donors support us because of their own experiences of mental health - we want to know how people cope.”
The illustrated Christmas card design describes eight ‘ways to look after your mental health this Christmas’, including ‘keep active’, ‘eat well’, ‘drink sensibly’ and ‘make time for yourself’.
