The mental health charity, in collaboration with Mental Health Promotion Specialist, Lynne Friedli, have been involved in producing guidance to be launched this week by the National Institute for Mental Health in England (NIMHE).
Making it possible: Improving Mental Health and Well-being in England provides good practice to support the development and delivery of action to improve the mental health and well-being of the UK population. The guidance details a framework for action to:
- Raise public awareness of how to look after our own mental health
- Involve all communities and organisations to take steps to promote mental well-being
Andrew McCulloch, Chief Executive of the Mental Health Foundation said,
“This document is a practical tool to help communities and organisations promote and protect the mental health of our population. Mental health problems currently affect more than 25 per cent of the UK population each year, costing the economy an estimated £93 billion 1. Many incidences of mental ill health are preventable and it is crucial that we work to help people look after their mental well-being.”
